The building blocks of the prepared food are now absorbed through the intestinal wall in the small intestine and transported by the blood to wherever they are needed. Once the food building blocks have been removed from the small intestine, the rest passes through the conveyor belt into the large intestine. The name already tells you what happens to the rest: it is thickened, the liquid is removed, and the indigestible parts are fermented by various bacteria.
