The current situation is demanding a lot from us: Social contact is only possible to a very limited extent, and the prospect of a second summer without a proper vacation can be quite gloomy. But we have good news: You alone are responsible for your mood. That's why we'd like to share 7 tips for a positive mindset with you today and show you how to invite good vibes into your everyday life.

If only it were that easy. While we'd really love to show you the secret switch that will put you in a good mood in no time, we have to give you a warning: Unfortunately, it's not quite that easy. A positive mindset requires daily work. But if you follow our steps, you'll see results very quickly. So, clear the stage for our 7 tips for a positive mindset.

7 TIPS FOR A POSITIVE MINDSET

If you read our 7 tips, you'll quickly realize that these are routines you can integrate into your daily life. It doesn't matter how long or intensively you practice them. It's just that you do them.

1. JUST DO NOTHING

Oh yes, this tip is deliberately at the beginning because it's the most important one. It's about making space for your thoughts in your stressful everyday life and connecting with yourself. Make sure you do nothing once a day. And by nothing, we mean absolutely NOTHING. Don't read, don't watch TV, don't scroll through social media. Sit somewhere comfortable, stare into space, and breathe. That's all. You'll see how beautiful that can be and how much more connected to yourself you'll feel as a result.

2. USE AFFIRMATIONS

Words have infinite power, and they're even more powerful when you truly mean them. So take a moment to jot down a few powerful affirmations that can guide you through your day. Sentences that begin with "I am..." are particularly effective. Here are a few examples:

  • I am grateful for my body.
  • I am full of power.
  • I am exactly right the way I am.

You can repeat these positive affirmations at any time. They're especially effective when you say them out loud. And if you really want to start the day on a positive note, you can say them to your reflection in the mirror in the morning.

Another quick tip for finding the right affirmations: You can buy affirmation cards as a set, for example, or download them in audio format from Spotify. Just see which method feels best for you.

3. BE OPEN TO NEW THINGS

Especially in the current, very bleak and uneventful pandemic situation, it can be nice to try something new every now and then. How about, for example, setting yourself one thing each week that you've never done before? This could be a new recipe or a completely new activity like painting, dancing, or a new sport. Your imagination is the limit. And maybe you'll even find a new hobby this way.

4. MEDITATE

Meditation can help you lift your mood and keep it consistently high. By regularly turning inward and breathing consciously, you connect with yourself and get to know yourself much better. This allows you to better recognize low moments and know what you need in each situation to get out of them. Why not incorporate 10 minutes of meditation into your morning routine? There's no better way to start the day than being completely with yourself.

5. GET INSPIRATION

A good book, a beautiful podcast, or art—each of us has our own unique way of finding new inspiration. And this is especially important if you're a creative professional. So, make more use of your free time and let yourself be inspired. You'll see how positively the feeling of inspiration affects your mood.

6. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS

Do you have this clique that does nothing but gossip about everything under the sun? You might not want to hear this right now, but it's better for you and your mood in the long run if you stop interacting with these people on a daily basis. Because you're actually the average of the five people you spend the most time with. So make sure your friendships offer you support and love and don't drag you down—life's simply too short for that.

7. BE GRATEFUL

Gratitude is one of the most important and powerful tools when it comes to a positive mindset.
